This may be the last opportunity to contribute. Please come and join us at World on Wheels on WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 29, 2008 to not only show your support for Obama but to have a GREAT time. Tickets will be $25.00, skate rental included. Food will be provided also. P.S. Dress in your best Halloween attire, prizes will be given! EVENT - OCT 15th - Help Needed !!!!
Hey All!!
Anyways, I need the help of anyone I can get this month, especially this event!! This is a FREE SHOW!!! The catch is, there's always a catch :-)...to enter you must register to vote (if you haven't already), all those who have registered already are just going to be checked off of the list and then be able to go in (still free). In saying all of this, we are going to have like 10 voter registration tables and we need people (you!!) to man them and keep everything as organized as we can!!
Oh and if you know of any others who would like to help, by all means...pass along the info!!

So, these are very exciting times and Barack the Vote has tons of fun events coming up this month!! The most recent one is a Barack the Vote Comedy Show, that we are hosting next Wednesday, October 15, 2008. Tommy Davidson is hosting it and they have lined up quite a few other comedians that are performing as well. To name a few, Chris Spencer will be there as well as AJ Jamal. BIZ Markie will be spinning at the event as well!! YAY!!

My Soul Sessions fam are celebrating their four year anniversary this Friday night with their usual eclectic mix of dope music and DJs, but with an art show thrown in this time for good measure. World renowned artist Shepard Fairey (of Obey and Obama fame) will be in the building, and the first 200 people to arrive will receive a free Limited Edition Hope Obama Poster. Factor in $2 Long Islands and I’m pretty much sold. Also, stay tuned - I think I’m gonna start hosting these things again pretty soon.

Who’s big enough to throw some attention back on the venerable Hollywood Palladium, which has been shuttered for most of the last year while undergoing a complete makeover? Think of a rapper whose name rhymes with cray-zee, which is what hip-hop fans are likely to go at the prospect of catching one of the genre’s biggest names in a facility with a maximum capacity of about 4,000.
Yes, Jay-Z will bring his game to the Palladium on Oct. 15, backed by a 12-piece band. Tickets will go on sale Sept. 5.
The goal of the renovation by facility operator Live Nation is to restore it to the state it was in when it opened Sept. 23, 1940, with a performance by the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and that big band’s on–the-rise singer, one Frank Sinatra, who was then about 18 months away from scoring his first chart hit under his own name.
“I’m honored to play such an iconic venue,” Jay-Z said in a statement issued today. "Just as Frank ushered in a golden era, I hope this opening will mark the beginning of a resurgence in generation-defining live music.”
The renovation covers the entire interior and exterior of the venue, with a new dance floor, a new façade replicating the original architecture and other changes made in keeping with the building’s original look, Live Nation officials said.
Among those who have performed at the Palladium in recent decades have been the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, the Who, Metallica, Public Enemy, the Sex Pistols, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and No Doubt.
